I may have this post in the wrong place and if I do I am very sorry. I have a 2003 Johnson 150. I'm draining the grease out now and need to buy the correct type grease to put back in the lower unit. Anyone have a recommendation at to what type, what weight and how much to put back in there?

A high performance, SAE90, outboard gear oil But do not mix high performance oil with premium grade oil.

Fill via the drain hole until oil flows from the level hole. Your owners manual will tell you the gear case capacity It's about 1 litre but I am not sure of the exact quantity for a 2003 model. (980ml ???)

Fit new seals to the drain and level screws

If the old oil comes out milky looking it indicates water ingress and complete resealing may be called for.

well the basic answer is 90 grade oil but... why not check with your dealer and get a gearcase filler pump to make things easy .... it screws directly on the plastic jug
Fill the gearcase to the top screw vent plug.... from the bottom one up

replace the plastic gaskets on the oil filler & vent screws

the dealer will tell you the best viscosity oils for your motor ex High Vis

others will chime in
