Not hot and humid in a good way lol.
Took the GF down to they keys in my 232 Baja. Over the last month, I have installed a small 12v 1500 BTU Air conditioner. (Small cuddy, small AC).. On low it draws 15amp, on high it draws around 30. When it ran, it did keep things comfortable during the 83 degree nights, but sure enough it shut off in the middle of the night after 3 hours on high. I had it hooked to my new Deep Cycle and my Dual purpose. I had my 30amp cord connected @ Shorepower to a Schumacher 15amp smart marine charger ($50 @ Wal-mart).
I figured I would plug in, keep the charger on the deep cycle, turn on and go to sleep.
The charger seemed to see the 100% charge on the battery and I dont even think it kicked on! At 3am, I woke up and the AC was off and the charger still said 100. Batteries were dead. As soon as I unplugged it, it kicked on and said 3%.
The charger works well with low batteries and will get them up quick, but I need something reasonable to charge the battery under load and extend the drainage time..
Any ideas? I dont do dock slips very often, but it's nice once in a while to save $100 a night and stay on the boat VS a hotel room.
Thanks,
Joe
