what type of prop

i have a 23 foot pontoon with a 70 hp merc, what pitch prop should i be running for performance and fuel economy,thanks for any help.........

Find out the proper operating range for your engine. (see owners/service manuals) Then prop the engine so the wide open throttle RPMs are at or near the top of that range. It will help your engine last longer too.

You are supposed to run 5000-6000 at wot with that motor.<br /><br />Take the rpm at wot now and add or reduce pitch to get within this range, preferably near the upper limit.<br /><br />One inch up in pitch means 200 rpm down and vice versa.
