This was my brother in law's dad's trailer. He said he remembers some sort of roller in the bracket shown in the pic. What type of roller do you think would work best? And can you give me a little help on placing it properly? The boat is a 14 foot flat bottom jon. Thanks

Re: what type of roller

The inside width is five inches. The problem is those brackets only stick out about an inch, and the holes in those bracket is only about a half inch from the frame.

There was more to it, stl. There was a vertical bracket that raised the roller to engage the boat's bottom.

Check the championtrailers.com catalogue. They may have the exact thing you need.

I may be making this harder, but Instead of grinding those brackets off What if I cut a 2x6 to fit in between those brackets, mount the 2x6 using the four holes on the brackets, and then mounted a roller like TS showed to the 2x6?

I may give that a try. How high up should the roller be? Should it be even with the bunks? or slightly above or below. Or is this something I will have to experiment with. It should be easy to adjust with the slotted holes.

Experiment.

The bunks should hold the vast majority of the weight. The rollers; about 1/3. IMHO.

The purpose of that roller is to get the bow up onto the bunks without scraping the frame of the trailer. The top of the roller should be level with the bunks.
