Thanks for the reminder. We're all over Mothers Day here. My favorite uncle was a B-17 pilot in England so I'll hoist one in his memory today.

Here's my ignorance, and a reflection on the quality of my history class, what is VE day?

Good for her RPJS, I'm happy to hear people still doing things like that. My dad, & most of my uncles were in service during WW II, my uncle, who's house I bought when he passed, made the Normandy invasion D-Day, H- Hour. I grew up hearing all those songs, though they were a little before my time. Years later I became a fan of Big Band music, and so resulted the name of my boat PERFIDIA (from Glenn Miller's version). Enjoy the Day & the event! Joe

Hi
Just to let you know we had a fantastic day.

Very emotional on occasions, there were a few vets in the audiance (including 2 Americans who settled here after the war)and certain songs obviously bring back memories.

Sue (my wife) was booked to sing for 2hrs but ended up doing 3.5, everybody was enjoing themselves that much they did not let her finish.
The beer being 6p a pint (1945 prices) may have had somthing to do with it.

Hats off to the organizers, they made the day what it was, flags, bunting, air raid sirens & all the staff in fancy dress.

A nice coincidence that you celebrated mothers day in the US on the same day, I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like for the mothers of all the service men involved.
