What Year - 4hp Envinrude

Hi,<br /><br />Does anyone know what Year this Outboard was made?.<br />Its a 4 horse Evinrude. The Plate has Model number 7W70E and the serial number is E3182953... Can anyone also tell me alittle about this Motor... I think its Air Cooled, has no Neutral, Just Start/Forward and NO REVERSE.... Thanks Russ

russ <br /><br />Are you sure about that model number? I'm having trouble coming up with anything on that one. I can only guess that it's a 1970 model. Maybe others have better sources for that number. If you find any other numbers, please post them... The way I would break it down with what you gave is:<br /><br />7=HP<br />W=Watercooled<br />70=Year<br />E=Evinrude<br /><br />But this is all a guess at this point and I don't think it's right...

4W70 IS A 1970 4 hp Johnson engine if that's what it reads.The 'E' would denote that it was manufactured at the Evinrude plant.That's the best I can do.

I don't think its 7hp, It shows a 4 on the engine cover, and those are the numbers on the engine plate.. Thanks..
