Good resource for Suzuki outboards:<br /><br /> http://www.brownspoint.com/?src=overture <br /><br />start down "parts look up". You will have to sign up to get to the info but the year model breakdowns are on the first pages of the PDF files of the parts fiches.

Suzuki has made a 60hp twin, 65hp twin, 65hp triple and 75hp triple in two stokes and currently a 70hp four cyl. four stroke engine. Do you have any idea how big a 70hp single would be!!!! Go back about three steps, take a good look at what you have and try to rephrase your question. There aren't any 70hp singles out there in the outboard world.

fridaysmarine if you would have read the question properly it says a suzuki 70 i did not say that it was the H.P. if you are a suzuki dealer which you claim you are you should have picked up on that by the way I found out myself its a suzuki 70 which means a 70cc which is a 3H.P. 4.3 cid have a nice day.

Your question said nothing about 3 HP, or 4.3 cid, or 70 cc. Single means two things in the marine world. Single engine or single cylinder.<br /><br />Your question was ambiguous, at best.

hahahaha<br /> wow friday ya got flamed. better you than me,I get enough of it.<br /> beverly<br /> I think you insulted one of the best suzuki techs on the east coast. I have known them for 15 years or so.<br /> your question was less than ambigous. try not to flame us techs to bad. by DT70 it indicates a 70 horsepower. but maybe if its old enough suzuki may have at one time done it by displacement. in the 20 years I have been in and out of suzuki dealerships I have never seen any suzukis referenced by displacement.

No problem here..I think you may have a motor sold in the Asian market and perhaps brought back by a GI or someone. Research...In the U.S. Suzuki sold a 3.5Hp from 1979 to 1984. It was indeed a 70cc one cyl. Model designations are as follows for the short engine(for long make the S an L)..<br />Year model tag model starting serial no.<br />1979 DT3.5SN 0351-F 10001<br />1980 " ST 0351 001001<br />1981 " SX " 100001<br />1982 " SZ " 200001<br />1983 " SD " 300001<br />1984 " SE " 400001<br />You most likely have a Suzuki 3.5 but your numbers don't come from here unless..and I forgot to look..they are Spirit numbers which was the Suzuki when distributed by Arctic Cat '77-'80.. I'll check that.

Re: what year and HP suzuki

Spirit never had a 3.5 but Suzuki had a 4.5hp (C)in 1977 which became a 4 (D) in'78 and had the same bore as the 3.5hp which followed. The decals all indicated HP but not displacement. I'd like to see a photo..fridays@oonl.com

Garry<br />Sounds like a rare motor. No reason to be rude to other members though... You never know when you might need them.

Mea culpa..mea culpa..got your photos and I was definately right in the first place. You have an old (relatively speaking) Suzuki pre-1977, pre-US market. Some of the parts are obviously 3.5hp such as the shifter but others were never seen here as in the pull start mechanism. DT 70...who would have thunk it???? I'll see what I can dig up. I want it..I need to know...will you take my first born..on second thought...!!!!
