What year is my 50 hp Chrysler Force outboard?

I purchased a starcraft boat with a 50 hp force outboard on it at an auction last summer. The model # is 507X5A and serial # 4253. Will this tell model year or is there a date stamp, etc.?

Tom V, Welcome to iboats. The model year is coded into the model number.<br />The "5A" in the model number indicates a 1985 production run A.<br /><br />greece, a warm welcome to you as well.<br /><br />The numbers you posted appear to be part numbers.<br />Model and serial number should appear on an id tag, located on the transom mounting bracket.<br /><br />Is there a hull id number on the transom of the boat?<br /><br />How many cylinders does your engine have, 3, 4, or 5?<br /><br />What color are the ignition coils and power packs, blue or black?<br /><br />What color is the engine, white or grey?<br /><br />If possible, post or email pictures of the motor, including several of the lower unit.<br /><br />If you can email them to me, I will post them for you.<br /><br />roscoe33@mac.com

Craig, your boat was indeed built by Bayliner and sold under the name Trophy. The boat is a 1991 model.<br /><br />The motor is almost certainly a 50hp, 1990 or 1991.<br />These engines were identical, except for the decals, and possibly the carburator.<br /><br />Thats a nice looking boat.<br /><br />

<br /><br />Excerps from the email he sent to me:<br />....."the boat hull number is ( BJYE 06UAA191 ) . it is an electric start 2 cylinder outboard. it has blue ignition coils, and the engine is black ? on the head of the engine carries this number, Q 718 S47607<br />and on the engine transom bracket carries this number.
