What year is my 5HP Mariner

I just purchased a 5 HP Mariner O.B. It is an air cooled engine. It starts and runs great. I would like to know 2 things. First, Who made this engine and what year is the engine. The number says: 661 S 034_ _ _ any help would be appreciated.<br /><br />Thanks, Paul

Looks like 1976. The serial number is important - as long as 034??? is correct, so is the year.<br />661 is a dead giveaway for a Yamaha built engine.
