What year is my Merc?

I have a Mercury 40 hp O/B. The only markings are Mercury 402 Serial 7032681. Can someone tell me the year and direct me to a parts schematic?

I found the year to be 1972. In 1972 there were several models:
Model 40202E
Model 40203E
Model 40252E
Model 40253E

How do I determine which model I have?

The different models relate to electric or manual start, short or long shaft. You know what you have, the model doesn't matter for looking up parts, the most important thing is the serial number.

I use www.mercruiserparts.com for parts look up.
