what year is my mercury

i have a serial number#1896423 and imprinted on the motor 50hp and am trying to get some info on why there is no spark whatsoever and am not sure after talking with several friends if it uses a magneto or a coil pack inside of a distributor that has a set of 4 spark plug wires coming out of the bottom to the 4 plugs<br /><br />would appreciate any help given

Peter O, Thanks for the serial Info Much appreciated,now all i have to do is find out the ignition method of spark whether it is magneto or some hidden coilpack that i cant see
