Re: What year is my Powerhead

That looks like a casting number and not serial number. What is the serial number on the bracket tag if it is still there?

Re: What year is my Powerhead

thnx for the reply..

if there is another tag I can't locate. Where would it be located?

I tend to ramble on, so sorry if I have made confusing..

summary: head replaced with older block his best guess was 92-99. To get running they also swapped out the ignition/cable harness. Now engine runs great, all the switches work.. ie bilge pump, running lights, live well etc.

BUT... no gauges work so need to wire in the tach, speedo, fuel, tilt/trim, amps.

I wanted to know the head year to try and get schematics to wire the gauges. I'm pretty much illeterate when it comes to marine engines, guess this is obvious, but do have a good electronics background. If given the schmetics for the gauges, and the powerhead connections I could wire this myself.

Last question: has the color coding change between 1992 and 2000?

FYI:

orginal head was a 2000 Johnson 70hp Model - J70PLSS serial number G04842472

All help given is appreciated.. and apologize if posting incorrectly, this is my 1st time
