What year is Sea Horse 10?

This is a picture of a Johnson 10 HP I just purchased with a boat. There is no id tag just the rivets that used to hold the tag on. It has the old 2 hose pressure tank. I think it's a 1959. Can anybody tell me for sure? Thanks.

Hi Seahorse<br />Yep, that is pretty close, if not right on. Look for the little welch plug on the block. This is a small aluminium disc about the size of a quarter. It should have the model and ser.#s on it. QD 20 or QD21,Qd22.

I've got a 1960 (QD-21) that looks exactly like that, except it uses a fuel pump and a single fuel hose. alcan is correct about the block plug. A 1959 would be model # QD-20, 58 would be QD-19 etc.<br /><br />-John

Thanks for the help. The aluminum plug has the SeaHorse emblem on it and an 7 or 8 digit serial number, nothing that looks like a "QD" or model no. I guess it could have been replaced in 40+ years, it looks new.
