What year is this 200 Evinrude I just bought?

Hi,<br /> I had posted the below previously. I now need to find out if this is a '94 as I have been told by who sold it to me. It is rusted so bad that the model tags are off and all I can find on this motor is 27ASPH and G1415673 I want to make sure it is a '94 so that I buy the right Clymer. Thanks again for any help/<br /><br /> (I just bought this motor advertised as "will not start". When starting from the key switch, there is no spark. Unplug the harness under the hood and it will start and run fine with a remote starter. There had just been a new throttle control before it was sold to me. Maybe in there or the ignition switch? Should I start by replacing the ing.switch before anything else?<br />Thanks guys...........

Check the safety switch first. Then if that's not the problem do some circuit testing before you go buying new parts and switches.

a good start would be a voltmeter and a service manual. you have already isolated it to the hull ign harness assy. now its time to check what is grounding the black/yellow kill wire.<br /> if its changed to the new modular connectors check carefully the connector plug where the yellow/red and blk/wht wires are. they tend to arc.

hmm.. i guess you bought the motor only and not a boat/motor combo, if you happened to get a title to both the model number would be listed. More than likely it would start with a VE and 200 for hp size, then some more letters telling the year.

should have a model number like (or similar) E200TXERS showing "ER" for the year 94

I'd look real hard at the wiring of the ignition switch and in the control, since it has been recently changed. Make sure all the wires are hooked up to where they should be...Have you looked on the engine block for a quarter sized silver recessed plug with number/letters on it? Might look for that and post anything you find...

Thats a small bore V6 looper Sea Drive. Like 1987 vintage.

Thanks Rick, these are the numbers on the silver plug 27ASPH and G1415673 .<br />Dhadley has informed me that it is a 87. Right?
