what year is this 40hp evinrude #406544

I posted a few months back and someone gave me the year but I have forgotten it. The motor is a forty horse with model number 406544.I finaly tried to crank it after its been laying in the back yard for a year and she fired right up.Also I would like to know what kind of steering system I should use,the boat is 14ft. ormond sport and it had cable and pulley setup .I'm thinking about the Teleflex quick connect?

Hey alastriper...if thats a 40654...that would be a '76. Think ya' put on one tomany 4's.

Thanks thats what someone else said about the last4 but it is stamped on there.I went to Alabama Marine to order some steering and control cables and asked him about what year it was and he said late 60's.But any way when I definitly get the correct year for this model #406544 I will get the manual needed.
