What year is this 80?

I have a 80 hp evinrude, model 80753r
sierial e01340
can anyone tell me what year this is?
Also, where can I find the proper coil? The coil on it now is off a chevy.
It runs fine but the coil gets super hot.

I don't know where a coil could be located. Others on the board probably have some ideas,

try ishopmarine.com may have to call them. most online parts list only go back to 1968. if you have a good NAPA auto parts store, they carry a lot of outboard parts. they have a 600 page parts list.
