What year is this Crestliner?

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a Crestliner Del Rio 17". I was told by the guy I bought it off that it was built in 1951. There is also a marine survey that says it was built in 1951. However, I was looking online and I cannot seem to find any information on a Crestliner built in 1951. So, now I am wondering whether it is a 51 or not. I did find a 1961 catalog on retro Crestliner and the boat I bought looks very similar to that one. So, now I figured it's a 1961.

I am wondering whether any of you guys can tell me what year it is. The goal is to try to restore it back to its prime and keep everything as "original" as possible. I have a long way to go, but you have to start somewhere, and that started with buying the boat! I have included some pictures and have many more if they are needed.

Thanks for any help,

Jacob

Does it not have a title? You will need that to register it. It does look nice, I'm guessing it was restored?

for sure early 1960's.. A boat built in 1951 would be either lapstrake or plywood wooden boat. You will want to find the serial number which should be on the transom

Matt,
It looks like the serial number is 2937B 951. Does this help to identify the year it was built? I think it was restored a bit because it looks different from a Crestliner AD I found. My goal is to restore it to as close to original as possible. I bought it because I liked the profile of the boat and the colour was pretty sweet too. It still needs alot of work on the inside, basically like cosmetic wise with some paint etc.

I really was hoping to find some sort of book or guide that told me what Crestliner's looked like "back in the day", that way I can restore it as best I can. I put the boat in the water last weekend and it runs pretty well, the steering is a loose, like it takes a while to turn, but I think I just have to do some adjusting of the steering cables and see if that fixes it.

Sphelps,

Yes a original tee nee trailer came with the boat too. I want to restore the trailer too, it badly needs some new paint, and maybe some new rollers. Once that is done i'm thinking it will look pretty neat. But that's probably a winter project, or possibly a next winter project.
