what year is THIS mariner 55hp

i just got a 55hp Mariner Outboard (2cylinder)<br />it has an (Orange?) band on the cover and the serial is 663L103135.<br />And i could not match it with the other links supplied.<br />if possible can somebody e-mail me at the following address.<br />angel122@iprimus.com.au

55 E 663-02506 - 1976 <br />Looks like a 1976 Short Shaft Model.

i am VERY new to this outboard stuff but i thought the L stood for Long shaft (663L)and i dont understand where the -02506 compares with the 103135 (663L103135)<br />as when i looked at the links supplied for other peoples request i couldnt place the above serial in any of the catagories, please excuse my ignorance and thanks for the reply, i will assume it is around a 75 model

skippytwo,<br />You're right about the "L" being a long shaft. Went a little brain dead there for a Minute. Still, I can't match up that number where I'm looking. I'm betting it is a 1975 0r 76 Model, only because I had a '76 60HP that looked like yours, with the Orange band on the hood. Here's where I'm looking. Also, because that Motor was made by Yamaha, I found this. It still does'nt give the exact year. though!<br /> 663 1974-1979 55AM/55AE/55AEM

thanks for your help, it seems to be a bugger of a serial number to match, and i have triple checked it, so i would assume it is a 75 or 76 model also<br /><br />thanks again
