What year Johnson outboard?

The only numbers I can find on this engine are "under the hood" they are <br /> Johnson Motors<br /> 307930 PS 448T<br /> US 2866774 49-12<br /><br />are these the model and serial? if so which is what and what year motor. On the outside of the hood it says Sea Horse 40 if that helps any. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your responses. First I don't know which part is the transom but I have looked all over the engine and the case for the transmission/prop drive unit assembly. The numbers I found under the hood are stamped on the foam of the hood itself. Any help is greatly appreciated.

OK, that's the answer I hoped you would give, because 1971 is the only year that p/n was used for the sound blanket - So now we know the cover is from a '71. If you're positive it's the original cover you've a 1971.<br /><br />Are there any numbers on the bracket that bolts the motor to the boat? Or, perhaps on the part of the bracket that pivots when you tilt the motor up? You may need to break out a couple of rags and some de-greaser.<br /><br />-John

Thanks John! I'm not positive about anything on this motor except the flywheel won't come off! But that's another problem. I found tha model number plate under where the motor turns from side to side while looking for the numbers you asked for (Yippeee!!!) It is RDS-295 so according to link posted earlier it is a 1967 model. Now I can get the service manual and parts list books to replace flywheel (I broke it) and whatever ignition parts i need whenever I finish cutting flywheel off! Thanks again your clues helped me to find it.
