what year mariner?

I was given a 25 horse mariner, which needs some work so I'm planning a rebuilt but need to know the year model so I can order a service manual, I found the following numbers on the powerhead:<br />M163181309<br />827362A40<br />can anyone tell me what year model motor I have, also there was 25MH/MLH stamped on the power head as well; what does the MH and MLH stand for. I think you have the Japanese version of the Mariner. Does it look like you can remove the head?<br /><br />TMD

I found another tag/sticker on the motor that says its 1997 25 horse. It appears that I would be able to remove the head, but I was warned by a local shop that looks can be deceiving with these motors. Now that I know the year any further tips before I order the manuals and do the rebuild? The sticker also said it was built by mercury marine, other than that I have no new news. Thanks for your help its greatly appreciated.<br /><br />Dave
