Anyone know for sure what year motor this is?

The reason I ask is I ordered a water pump kit for my 1989 Force 125 (ebasicpower.com). Then noticed it was the wrong pump housing that was shipped. They say I ordered the wrong parts and should have taken it apart first and went by the picture of the item in the add and compared that with what I have before I placed my order. Now I have to return it and pay a 20% re-stock fee.

Thanks Dave. I knew it was a 89 but needed to vent a little. These people actually think that everyone should dismantle, examine parts, takes photos, compare photos, then place your order according to THEIR picture. Heck, their picture of the item may not be of the actual item for sale!
Shop by picture, not model # and serial#, thats ODD!
Beware of ebasicpower. (Should have ordered through iboats!)

This sometimes happens when people order parts without first taking apart to see what the have and what they need. Our return policies are prominently stated on each listing. Don't return it, they will say the packaging is not in good condition.
Don't give them a chance to make more money off you.

Throw it away or sell it on ebay.

FWIW - when ordering parts, I always check several sources to make sure they are all recommending the same part number for a particular application.

For example, you can check the Sierra parts web site, iboats, maxrules site, Seiler marine, outboardparts site, and the Doug Russell site in just a couple minutes.

yeah don't send it back. i returned a cell phone to tmobile once & my next bill was 110 bucks over the regular charges...restocking/packaging/taxes. heck, the phone only cost 50 brand new. i got screwed, they knew it, & when i sent them a letter they gave me 30 free text messages - wow, big deal!!!

I've had bad luck with a boat dealer recently so I went to epower to check it out. It looks like the first water pump listed is for a 1989 Force 125...

And just in case you didn't, start from the top and work your way down. Retail is a simple business, in most cases the "customer is always right" and the pee'on at the counter or on the phone is just doing their job.

I already shipped back. If I would have kept it and tried to sell it on e-bay, what would I have called it? It surely didn't fit my 125.

I will wait and see about refund. They SAID they would. Oh well, now I have the correct part (70mi drive to nearest marina) and I can button this up. I thought for a minute I had a LU off a 1990 due to Clymers manual pg 452? figure #76. This sketch is actually my LU but it states "1990-1994". Sometimes makes you wonder......

Ok, back again. Turns out, I DO have a different year lower unit installed by someone (previous owner?). Someone evidently trashed the orginial LU and installed one of a later year, later than 1989. Now the task, find out what year. Here is some numbers found in the casting;

RW694054.

Look familiar to anyone?
I will try and chase this down and any help appreciated.
