How do I find the year of my 75hp Chrysler outboard with no identification plate ?

I don't know much about Chryslers, but some motors have serial numbers in more than one place. You may need to post some photos after you make 3 post.

ID plate should be in the lower cowl infront of the carbs to the right.

If not plate the engine block should have a circle in the casting with the year in the center.
I think it is somewhere at the cylinder casting at the back.

The 75 was made from 75-84
1980 they went to a 1 piece lower unit.
​Pics of the gear case and the electronics will help.
​Under the bottom carb on the intake is a foundry stamp.
​If It says 79 in the center that was the year it was made.
​Not the year it was used. I had an 88 that was made in 87 and sold in 88.

To add pics you need to use a photo sharing site, something like shutterfly ETC.

Thanks for that my first boat and outboard i got it running and have a second 75hp for parts that look the the same motor prop on boat is hard to spin but the parts motor spins easy can I just change over bottom end has a bigger and better prop on the parts motor?

I wii have another look for the identification plate it's also got a golden band on the cover I will post some photos if I can workout how to finding out what year it is will make it a lot easer to work on and get parts

A pic of the lower unit and the ignition will tell us a lot.
