I've got a complete gimble from a 75 model year boat. It's the older style with the in-line trim sender. Will any 1967-82 MC-1 outdrive fit(forget about gearing for a second)? Will any other years/models of outdrive fit or do I have to keep to that year and model range?

I had the history pdf already but it doesn't specifically say what can interchange with what but there is some good info in there.

Had not seen the mercstuff.com link before. If the alpha 1 gen 1 outdrive can be used, that really opens the door up in terms of availability!

I am using a gifted spare MC-1 this year in place of my Alpha One, the yokes were different lengths so I had to swap em over.

The Alpha not gen2 will fit, input shaft ahead of u joints may have to be swapped. Tilt trim will be different no big deal.Just hold tilt and trim buttons to trim up.That was my experience.

Will any other years/models of outdrive fit ...?

Another good option is a new Sterndrives Engineering SE106. Very inexpensive brand new outdrive that will bolt on with no issues. You can even order it with whatever length input shaft you need at no extra cost.

Checked out their website... Price is actually quite decent for brand new.

I've installed several of them on various boats - great product and service... not to mention price.

Very good option, especially if a used unit of unknown quality is an option.

Like mentioned above, comes with a new yoke, u joints, impeller, bolt in and go, with a 3-year warranty.
