I was "caught" by the local marine police for tresspassing on this dock. But because I had paid for the town launch sticker (the launch ramp is right in front of my boat) they said it's OK to use the dock even though it has a "no tresspassing" sign on it. That and a few kids didn't hurt.
I have been using this dock for years, everyone does because when you launch, this is the dock within 2 feet of the launch and that is what you tie up to. Too bad the dock is rotting apart. The boards are loose, often just lying there with no nails. The cleats are mostly missing, and the rub strip is missing in spots.
You would think that the owner would spend a few bucks to fix it up.
Next time you see Billy Joel, tell him his dock needs repairs.
BTW, I won't be using Mr Joel's dock anymore. The town built a new one to the right on the other side of the launch ramp. Right next to Mr Joels two boat slips where he keeps his boats off (tourist)-season.
Actually, I have a very high regard for Mr. Joel and what he has done for boating and support for Long Island fishermen. I just can't resist busting him about his humble dock. d
