whater ...pump???

Guys ...need help please ...so i am geting ready for fishing season here in..MD. started the 1987 88nhp evenrude and it starts right up no problems but as i imspected. Looks ok the only thing i see is there is no water coming out of little orifices .. thoes on the side of it that shoots water down ...could it be the water pump ..dont want to get stranded out in the water tomorrow... Thanks every one

Have you tried running weedeater line up the pee hole insects love to build nests in those little places. Good luck

Do you have it in a tank, on muffs, or what? You cannot test a water pump by running on muffs. If in a tank, is it deep enough to submerge the pump?

Truthfully, it is a moot question anyway. Just because it pumps today is no indication it will pump tomorrow, If you want reliability, replace the pump now, and don't worry about it for the rest of the season. Option #2 is wait till it fails and burns up the motor, then rebuild everything. I think you will agree the first option is preferable.

The pin is under the lower carb on the port side. 1/4" drive tools work good for getting at it.

There is only one pee hole on the starboard side so what holes are you talking about?

so .. I took the boat out yesterday everything was going good until on the way back decided to fish a little more , and cut off the motor and it dint started it cranked and cranked but could not get it going thought it was the fuel pump but not sure toked it apart and is no debris or anything looks clean ... there is something like oil an fuel at the bottom of the motor thou but cant see where is it coming from
