Why would anybody want to go back to a job that pays nothing? What is your Day Job? Prison Guard? Seems to me like you were trying to get on with the Post Office. :    <br />I will say a prayer for your mother.

Man some people just don't get it in life. It's not always about receiving, some give just for the sake of giving.

The giving part I understand. It is the fact that what was given was not wanted. There just has to be something deeper here. Like Kiwi Phil says (or rather like his mama said) There are three sides to every story, your side, his side and the truth. Sorry for the misunderstanding. but :humbled: Incidently I oppose apartheid.

Tech I appreciate the words about my mother. Yep day job is prison guard. I've been doing that for 11 1/2 years. As for the different sides of the story the one I presented is the truth. I was required to work so many hours amonth and I didn't do it. It wasn't a one month thing either. This was over a large period of time that I did not meet the needs of the agency. Family needs were more of my concern that the needs of the city. I failed to carry my end of the bargin. As far as why to work for free? I reckon its that "help someone, do something positive" thing for me. I gave 9 years of free service to my community. I am proud of that. I simply do not have the time to commit to it anymore.

One of our county jailers has come on board our reserve program. I have not had a chance to ask him why, I am sure he has his reasons, I am fairly sure it is not to get hired fulltime like I am doing. For those who don't understand why someone would do this job for money, let alone for free, I personally get a lot of satisfaction when a wife beater or a drunk is inside that patrol car. Knowing that people are sleeping safely in their houses because of what I am doing is the driving force behind why I do it. Being compensated for it is secondary, though I do want the usual retirement/career thing.
