Just curious what you all are planning for Christmas Dinner? I'm SICK of the traditional ham or turkey, how about you?
Think we'll have taco's! :D

Re: What's for Christmas Dinner?

Last year we went to a Japanese restauraunt for sushi, it was pretty cool. My mother just moved to my town to retire, so now that the entire family can be in the same place, she wants to cook the traditonal ham dinner, so we will let her. It has been roughly 20 years since the whole family ate Christmas dinner in the same house, so we think she deserves to "mother" us...

We're having the good ol' baked ham with mashed potatoes and white gravy. Yum! I'm looking forward to it. :)
dhud64- I've got relatives in Kansas City, Peculiar and Stockton. Just seeing where you are from made me think of them. Thanks.

I do Christmas Eve Dinner at my house every year so we can be at our daughter's house with the grandbabies Christmas Day.

Everyone looks forward to my shrimp and scallops in a wine/cream sauce served in pastry cups, fresh baby spinich salad with tangerines, almonds and bacon with homemade orange, celery seed dressing, pepper crusted prime rib with horseradish sauce, done to perfection, garlic roasted mashed new potatoes, asparagas spears with hollandaise sauce, fresh homemade bread and a fine merlot.

After dinner we all pile in the SUV to go look at Christmas lights and sing Christmas Carolls. :)

I don't like the fact that my wife or I have to spend a great deal of Christmas in the kitchen (yes I actually cook) so we put together a huge deli tray of roast beast, hams, turkey, cheeses, etc.. and everyone just eats when they want to. Works out great

Re: What's for Christmas Dinner?

big italian family on mom's side. we spend christmas eve with them- traditional 50 fish dinner, 145 fried itmes, 247 different types of canollis, but god forbid we eat any meat.

christmas day spent with dad's side- we used to have ham, turkey, etc. a few years back we made it more interesting with lasgna, roasted beef tenderloins, and some sides.

any way you look at it, about 10 lbs heavier after the two days.

Were gonna split a couple of whole chickens and Barbacue half and mojo the other on the grill/smoker. I forgot what else..whatever momma makes..probably potatoe salad and beans..maybe a salad. We'll save some money and hassel. Minimal clean up and work this year.
