Yes please :D

This one drives me crazy:

Rubber hangy down things that protect the side of the boat = fender

They are not bumpers and definitely not bouys.

Toward the stern = aft
Toward the bow = forward (correction please?)
Outside "rail" on bottom i.e. last strake = chine
Distance from waterline to the top of the Gunwale = freeboard

From dead ahead to two points abaft the starboard beam= danger zone. How many rookie boaters even know what to do about another craft approaching from this zone?

Take responsibility to safely avoid the other craft, or something very similar. Anyway, this probably should be its own thread. It amazes me that this one rule is so unknown and misunderstood. Its even the reason for the different colors of your bow lights. I've just had to take the position that it is my responsibility to avoid any craft from any direction. Fact is this is against the rules too as the craft that has the right of way should maintain its course to avoid any confusion . . .

Agreed. I have a single safety rule for boating:

Rule 1: Every other craft on the water is going to try to kill you. Pay attention at all times and avoid them.

I learned that from my Dad when I got my first motorcycle, and altered it slightly to suit boating. That rule has kept me out of trouble on both modes of transport.
