whats missing? extra holes on motor 1973 50hp RUDE

i just found these screw holes open. and wondering what would go here...on throttle side near fuse box.

Could it be for the electric choke solenoid?
It's hard to tell from the picture.

In a previous incarnation of that model that mounting plate held the starter solenoid. When they moved the solenoid on later models they didn't alter the mounting plate casting...

Where is the starter solenoid on that motor? That looks like a place for one.

Maybe they were put there to give you something to worry about.

Or maybe that mounting plate is also used on other motors.

yeah the solenoid is on the other side
