Just curious of what make of Ice Chest some of you prefer. I have 3 that I use, Coleman, Thermos, and an Igloo. I can fill all three with ice on a Friday. By Saturday afternoon the Coleman and Thermos has lost about half their ice while the Igloo has about only lost about a quarter of its ice. By Sunday afternoon the Coleman has only about a quarter of its ice, the Thermos has no ice but just cold water, and then there is the Igloo with just over half the ice left. Does anyone have the Igloo Marine series? The one I have is just a run of the mill Igloo. And want to know if the Marine series are any better. Thanks.

What's the best chest? Hmmmm.... I asked a lady friend :D but she tends not to store ice there!

Yes Igloo does have a Marine line! http://www.igloocoolers.com/products.asp?c=8 and that is an interesting piece of info you have given us. They even make marine cushions for the tops of them to double as seats...LOL I think I found what I want for my birthday!

Bob

Leave the plug pulled and keep the water drained off. I will last 10 time longer. It the water melting the ice. I can keep bait for 5 day in 90 deg heat and only loose about 1/3 of the ice in all that time.

Coleman's new Xtreme Coolers are guaranteed to keep ice for five days. A buddy caught a bunch of fish in the Gulf and and to get them back home. A few more stops in Alabama, five days later and there was still ice in the cooler. There rather pricey though.

I have a West Marine Extra Cold 50, by Igloo. It keeps ice even longer than my regular Igloo Marine Chests.

I don't agree about draining off water. I ice my chests with gallon jugs from the freezer. Stays cold longer and it stays mostly dry. :)

JB, trust me if you use cubed or shaved ice, keeping the pulg pulled will make the ice last 5 times longer. Using frozen jugs is a whole different ball game. Ask around the charter boats that fish every day. The only ice cooler they leave the plug in is the fish box because it a 1 day deal and the water helps get the fish cooled down quicker. They even add a bucket of sea water from time to time.
