My first concert was Chicago, my last concert was ACDC. Most memorable was Stevie Ray Vaughan in concert in Houston with BB King, The Fabulous Thunderbirds. After the concert ended they all stayed and jammed, it was the greatest music I ever heard.

Re: What's the best concert you've been to?

Have not been to too many big concerts but the absolute best was Alabama back in about 1984 at the West Palm Beach Auditorium (aka, the leaky tee-pee) just after the Roll on album came out.... Played a three hour show.. Absolutely Killer...

Saw Alabama again about 1986 at the fair grounds for the Volunteer jam with The Charlie Daniels Band ,also killer.. That was neat cause I was about 13-14 year old little squirt and I got to sit on some big monster redneck dudes shoulders right down front of the stage for about half of Alabamas set... :D Guy just picked me up and put me up there... :D

Bob Dylan is comming to WPB in a little over a month... I'll be there... Heard a rumor the James Brown is comming too and if so, I'll be there for that too..

Theres one group that I really want to see live in concert.. The Brian Setzer Orchestra... I'd almost donate a kidney to see that one...

I swear that right now there are almost too many shows comming into West Palm... Here's a sample list of the shows comming in the next couple months...
Def Leppard
Pear Jam
ZZ Top
Ted Nugent
Sheril Crow (sp?)
Keb Mo
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers with Snoop dog...
Molly Hatchet
Willie Nelson
and the list goes on and on...

Best being somewhat coherent .
ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), sometime in the late 70's. Roxy Music was the warmup band.

The was a huge snow storm the day of the show, so only about 2500 out of 6000 ticket holders showed.

We move the stage security gates and was sitting/standing right in front of the band.

A perfect setting for their type of music.

Best overall
Queen 1976 - Bohemian Rhapsody tour. The only "Quadraphonic" (remember Quadraphonic?)concert I ever attended.

They opened with "Bohemian Rhapsody", where the band started playing when the song transitions to the rock riffs.

I still get chills thinking about it, but maybe it's a micro-dot flashback ;)

Rock on!

Actually held in a volcano.......Partied all night in Honolulu and walked to the crater after midnight to get a front row look early....great time....

Re: What's the best concert you've been to?

Absolutely best concert was Chicago at Anaheim Stadium in 1975. But Chicago wasn't why it was so good.

The Beach Boys opened for them and came right out with their old stuff. They hadn't sang these songs for years. The stadium started rocking so hard they flashed a warning on the scoreboard. The engineers were afraid that the decks would collapse from everyone rockin' out!

Second best would be one year later, same place but now Beach Boys headline with America, Santana and some others. This was Brian Wilson's first time back with the group since the late 60's.

Honorable mention would be when I saw the Marshall Tucker Band at Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, CA. I was working concert security and the band announced that they couldn't play Fire on the Mountain because the steel guitar had broken. They told the crowd not to worry because they had 7 albums and they were going to play them all (most bands contracted for 45 minutes and 2 encores, so I was a bit cynical about their promise).

Hit reply without finishing:

Marshall Tucker ended up playing at least an hour past contract and the promoter literally turned off the power to the stage to get them to quit. What a night!

Re: What's the best concert you've been to?

This is a tough choice to make, but I would have to say it's a toss up between Alice Cooper and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Coppers show was new years eve 1997 at The State Theatre in Detroit. Place sits around 1500 people. The main floor, where I was, was wall to wall people. Despite this everything was peacfull. Granted, Coop is past his prime but his stage show is still one of the best.

The Bosstones, was ironically lastnight. The venue; St Andrews Hall, located in the shadows of GM's headquarters in downtown Detroit, capacity of 400. The main reason it is one of my favorite shows is they played a song that in seeing them 10+ times they had never played, just happens to be my personal favorite. The venue itself is an old church and produces a great sound.

Re: What's the best concert you've been to?

The best concert I ever saw was Pink Floyd's Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour in Ottawa Ontario. I think we were the tour opener. Now they normally turn the volume up throughout the concert and they did. The whole time everyone wanted to hear Comfortably Numb. They played it last. Suddenly the volume seemed to double to a level I have never heard again. Then, at the instant David Gilmour started the guitar solo, the volume again doubled. The volume went from shocking to unbelievable!!

They set a city record for sound levels at that concert. I don't smoke but I was getting high from all the second hand smoke around me.

Crab bait, my first concert was AC, a little later album(Trashed), Fox Theatre March ? 1989. That venue is generaly reseved for the Rockettes(sp?) and such. I agree, his theatrics are bar none the absolute best. He is, in my opinion, one of the last "transgenerational" artists left. I know of people in their 50's as well as those in their teens that like him. The man is absolutely amazing.
The wierdest part of it all is I live about a 1/4 of a mile from the house he lived until he moved to Phoenix ( supposedly age 6).

Hmmm. Well you asked for it. It's your own fault for letting old folks in on the question.

Combined U.S.M.C. and USN Concert bands. July 4, 1976.

Re: What's the best concert you've been to?

JB, I've seen the USN Concert? band a few times, very good. I believe Daryl Steurmer (guitar-Genesis) sat in with them on a few jazz numbers. They played Summerfest in Milw for many years.
I've literally seen hundreds of top acts there. Ten days of sun-music-boats-and 1 million people on the Milw Lakefront, every year. The biggest in the country. $10, 10 stages, 12 hours a day. This has been a free comercial for Summerfest.com They post all acts as they book them. June 26 to July 6th, 2003.

Let's see??
Floyd 77 Animals tour
Stones 89
Eagles 78
Doobies 89
Tom Petty 79, 84, 86- the crowd sang 90% of the songs.
The Who, 85?
Santana 78 not 98
Joe Walsh- his musicians concert, not his beer drinkers concert
Rush 81
Charlie Daniels
Suzy Bogguss 2001
Genesis 81
Outlaws and ZZTOP, 79
ZZTOP 82?
David + David 87
The Bun E Carlos Experience 86?
Weather Report 82
The Tubes- the full stage show-86
John Hiatt 97
The Radiators, 3 times in one week, 84? They still have all the original members for over 25 years.

Major disappointments:
Doobies 82
Springsteen 89/
Ronstadt 80

I could bore you for hours but I'll stop now.

Led Zeppelin at the THEN brand new Tampa stadium, 1970/71?. Pink Floyd was a month later.
I think I was sexually molested by a young female at one of them, but I can't remember............her name.
She really traumatized me, because I've been a victim of this abuse ever since.

I have led a sheltered life for sure. :(

Only seen 2 groups play.

One was a USMC band at Camp Lejune.

The other was Shania Twain, in Memphis. :D

I have heard music from some of the above mentioned groups though and some are quite good.
