What's the best free anti-virus software out there?

Hey ya'll.
My buddy who moved in downstairs from me is using a cheaper computer with Windows 2000 and does not have any anti-virus on his computer :^:^
I'm sure he will get a virus soon, so I'm trying to find him some free anti-virus software.
Can anyone recommend a good one.

You may want to get spybot as well to check for spyware.

I have an evil spirit in my 'puter, Bro Chris. None of my "protectors" kept it out and none can find and destroy it.:'(
