Whats the deal??

I have a suzuki 150 V6 with carbs. I finally got this thing to run perfect, except for this one promblem. When I run the motor it runs absolutely perfect, but when I turn the engine off to fish for a little while and try to start it again it starts and kills. I did notice that the ball is losing its prime after a little while of not running. Once I pump the ball, and its hard, the engine fires right up! What can cause this promblem? Where to check first? I just hate worrying the whole time I am fishing, wondering if the motor is going to crank when I am out there. Hopefully its a easy fix and I can get back in the water. By the way I rebuilt the Fuel Pumps and got the carbs cleaned twice.

The valve in the squeeze bulb may be bad causing it to allow the fuel to leak down. Replacing the bulb may be the first step.

Thanks Ray, I guess I will. Its a brand new ball but maybe its just a bad one. I will change the simple things first before I get elbow deep into this engine.

Ok changed the ball and still doing it. I went out today and dont you know somthing else goes wrong. I was just cruising and I opened it up to show the wife, brother, and sister in law what it had at full throttle and it started to cut out. I was running at 5100 rpms and then downward from there all the way to 4100. I did notice that when I hit choppy water it kicked in. That might sound crazy but, sure enough when I ran through some light chop it ran strong. I am going to change all the fuel lines under the motor cover and see if that helps. I did notice that one of the fuel lines had a slight leak. Hopefully I can get this thing running right so I can go out and not have to worry about this thing leaving me out there with the whole family in it.

normally if it changes in choppy waters you have a fuel problem. remove the carbs and re-clean them as well as test for fuel restrictions using a vacume gauge and some T-fittings. less than 1"Hg at wot usually indicates an air leak and more than about 4" Hg indicates a fuel restriction.
