What's the most commonly produced midrange Johnson outboard?

I'll define midrange in this case as any motor between 75 and 120hp, give or take 10 or 20 hp. I noticed that the Johnson 90hp has been consistantly produced through a wide range of years, and they show up often in the classifieds. I'm most interested in outboards produced during the '80's and that's what I generally look for.

So from my experience, it seems like the Johnson 90hp is the most popular motor in that horsepower range. Any other views and opinions? Am I way off on this assumption?

Any links to web sites that talk about production numbers and such will be very welcome.

Thanks,
Dennis

The Johnson 70 was really popular for a long time. I think now the 90 is what I see most often. bombardier decided to pull the plug on the 70. last produced by OMC 01 or 02?

Oberboat, Why did they pull the 70? My 84 is still running good.

My motor is a 2000 70. I think Bomb pulled the 70 two stroke to make room for the Susuki built four stroke.Evinrude had the Ficht 75 and now the ETEC 70.Lots of old 70s around, very well respected with boaters. I was kind of surprised that Bombardier stopped making this motor. Hate to see some of the good old two strokes go. I know the new motors are better running wise. They have to be damn good to top some of the two strokes that earned a good name. Time will tell.
