I thought this would make a good poll, but polling is disabled in all the forums I checked out.

The question is: What's the most commonly produced midrange Johnson outboard?

I'll define midrange in this case as any motor between 75 and 120hp, give or take 10 or 20 hp. If you were looking for a used Johnson outboard, what would be the most likely models you would come across, and the easiest to find.

I noticed that the Johnson 90hp has been consitantly produced through a wide range of years, and they show up often in the classifieds. I'm most interested in outboards produced during the '80's, but whatever years but any year will do.

A assume the 90hp is a cross-flow, reliable workhorse that OMC sells the most of, but I don't have any hard data to back up that assumption.

To expand on this topic a bit, what would you say is the best midrange outboard when it comes to availability, reliability, quality, ease of maintenance and easy to find both used and new parts for, especially during the 1980's but not necessarily restricted to those years.

So my vote goes for the 90hp as being the most prolific outboard that Johnson has produced.

Any other views and opinions? I would really like to see some inputs to this topic so feel free to jump in.

I have an ulterior motive in this poll: my engine seems a bit shaky and I'm thinking about buying another outboard and a parts motor to go with it. Whatever is plentiful and readily available are good candidates for my next motor.

Any links to web sites that talk about production numbers and such will be very welcome.

Thanks,
Dennis
