What's the proper starting procedure?

Hello all,
So I am a new boater and new to force. I just got my 1988 50hp force running and I am curious, what is the proper way to start this thing? Starts pretty easy some times, not so easy others. It still needs proper tuning as I am waiting on a digital Tach in the mail. So far I just choke, it pops, then I start again without the choke. My helm also has a fast warm up button, but I'm not sure what to do with it or when to use it. Any help would be great!

General start procedure when cold.
Pump up the primer ball until it is firm.
Set up a fast idle at the remote control.
Push in the key switch to choke when turning the key to start.
When the engine starts pull the fast idle back a bit to warm up the engine or all way back to idle if it will run at idle without a warm up.
You maybe have to give the key switch some push to give the engine some choke.
When warm just turn the key switch to start, maybe you have to give it some fast idle.
If these procedures do not work it maybe needs some tune up to the carb and the throttle pick up point (link and sync).

Awesome thanks Nordin!

Since you say you are new to all this, if you are starting her on a trailer, don't forget to have a water source for the cooling system, either muffs on a hose or a large tub of water that the motor is lowered in. Don't start it dry or you will ruin your impeller!

Yup copy that! I'm almost too afraid to use muffs so I have a barrel I fill up.

muffs are better than a barrel. if starting in a barrel, make sure the barrel is deep enough to get water 8" over the raw water pump
