I need to buy snow tires for my truck which curently has 235-75-R16 all seasons on it. Apparently this is an odd size and I'm having trouble finding snow tires in that size. Every place I have called has recomended a different size.

How much can you mess with the width and height dimensions? How's it work? Thanks!

That's a pretty common truck tire size. It's the metric equivalent of a 30 x 9.5 standard tire. Sounds like they're trying to sell you what they have. As far as how it works, for metric the first number is the tread width in millimeters, the second is the percentage of the first that the sidewall measures from the wheel to the tread.

That is a strange size.

What kind of vehicle? Are you sure about the numbers sounds more like 15" tire.

Anyway if it's a 16" rim 245/75/R16's would probably work and is more then likely what they were trying to sell you.
