hello, i have a 1988 bayliner 17' cuddy and want some type of encloser to go with the bimini or what not so that the whole boat can be enclosed.<br /><br />mine is almost exactly the same as the one in the pic, but mine is outboard powered...<br /><br />whats it called or what would you call this so i know what to ask for... thanks<br />

Instead of the 'sloped-back' go for the extra room a 'camper-back' canvas would give you. They're great. You might find a universal fit at a store but for the best results have it made by a canvas shop.

I had this type of enclosure custom made for my Bayliner and the guy that did it for me referred to it a an aft enclosure. Hope this helps.

The problem with these types of enclosures (and this does not apply to the "camper canvas" at the back, which is fine.) But rather there is not a bimini type gap betwwen the top of the windshield and the top of the canvas (this gap is usually filled with a transparent curtain. It gives you much less visibility up front and, worse, the claustrophibia of poor head room just where you need it.

I'm with swist. All you have to say is "I want a full enclosure added to my existing bimini". They'll know what you mean. Something like this.<br /><br />

well, let me just say, thanks. lots of info. but i dont plan on driving the boat while its on, just for camping/ sleeping purposes.

They look like stock bayliner pieces, which came with many of their pkg boats. I have the same thing for my '97 2050CL. That back cover, is really just for mooring. The stock bayliner part is solid with no clear panel, so you can't see behind you. I have seen other brands of boats that do use a clear panel. <br /><br />We did try to use ours during a heavy downpour. Once we had it on, the insides quickly fogged up, and I had to stick my head out the zippered panel portion of the bimini top to see. <br /><br />Finding used ones, in good shape would probably be next to impossible. But if yours was a very popular model, they might show up on Ebay. Some bimini top sellers may have the original bayliner patterns, but they may not be much cheaper than going to a custom uphoulstry shop. <br /><br />Given your use for camping/sleeping, I think you would be better off with a squared off solution like QC posted. It will give you much more room to move around, than the slanted cover. You just might want more privicy curtains, and some screen netting for ventilation and keeping the bugs out. A good custom shop should be able to work with your particular needs.

Try Leta's Top Shop in WA. She has all the factory patterns for Bayliners and Maxums and does mail order. For waaaay cheaper than factory.

Any canvas shop will make one to your specifications. That way you are assured a good fit.

I believe that top shop is the one down on Callow in Bremerton.....no?<br /><br />If not we have a guy that custom makes them......I"m tempted to get one of thsoe too for just teh same purpose, keeping me dry if we end up in a squall or someth ing........but heck, I can't keep it dry parked! ha ha ha
