Re: Whats up with 65-69 evinrude Fuel pumps?
That's great. I will have to get one due to the fact that i like to pull stuff apart to see how it works but the more I read these forums I'm starting to think it might be the carburetor. Might be a $50 lesson. oops.
My uncle gave me this boat after letting it sit for a year and a half with the fuel in it. It starts up, idles just fine and runs good all the way up to 3/4 throttle. At full throttle it will run solid for a bit but then it throttles down by itself and then it takes off again. It continues to do this and in some cases it throttles down so low it will stall. Like i said, i pulled apart the fuel pump and there were no holes in the diaphragm but i have to replace it because i lost one of the springs. i check the plugs and they were wet but i think that is due from my dad manually pumping the fuel in to keep it from stalling. I think he may have flooded the engine. I'm thinking my high speed nozzle might be choked off or restricted because we cruised the lake for 30 minutes without a problem until i tried to open her up. I'm new to 2 cycles so any help on this would be greatly appreciated. i just want to know if I'm going in the right direction. thanks
