What's wrong with my computer?

Just this morning I noticed playing Battlefield 2 that there were some parallel, but not perfectly horizontal lines appearing at the top of the screen. Looking in certain directions at certain times made them disappear. When I got out of the game they appeared almost gone, but getting into Thunderbird they appeared again. The fact that they go away at all makes me think it's not the monitor.

Any ideas?

I'm thinking video card. I have the Nvidia Gforce 6500.

I can see them at the top of the screen right now. Not bright at all, but certainly noticable. They only have about 5 lines 1/4 inch or so apart starting at the top. It doesn't cover the whole screen at all.

try another monitor and this will confirm its not it and it is your video card. but if they are still their all the time then i would bet its your monitor.

Try re-installing the driver fro the video card. Have you changed any video settings, like refresh rate?

Yes, I recently changed the refresh rate to 70 in that game. I'll change it back next time I play.

UPDATE: That solved the problem, setting it back to 60fps got rid of the lines! Thanks!
