Hi,
I'm looking for suggestions for a great polymer sealant to use on my gel coat boat. After doing alot of research, it appears that most people are turning over to polymer sealants instead of wax. I will be applying with a Porter Cable 7424XP DA polisher. What is your favorite polymer sealant? Also, what type of cleaner/polish do you use before applying your sealant. Thanks, Ray

Straight polish is the sealant. Wax just protects a little more. And yes, gelcoat is some what porous.

Never felt the need to seal gel coat. Most sealants I have seen others use discolor over time from UV exposure.

I know several guys that jumped on the band wagon. Results and effort didn't live up to the marketing hype. Went back to good ole wax.

Interesting replies,
My research on this subject is really leaning towards polymer sealant due to it's bonding properties to/in the pores of gel coat. With this being said, it's suppose to last two to three times longer than carnauba boat wax. I'm not disagreeing with you, you may be right. Thanks for your input, Ray
