I have a 1996 Magic Tilt Trailer (single axle) that has old drum brakes installed that I disconnected 5 years ago. Now it seems that the drums inside the hub are sticking and I want to removed the drum brakes from the hub itself.

How do you get access to the inside of the hub ? I took the wheel off of course, do I have to take the bearing apart for the hub to come off.

Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks,

Don't be surprised that you find it is not the brake assemblies causing the problem but rather the bearings themselves. If you didn't know how to remove the hub/drum assembly, that says the bearings have never been serviced and are probably in serious need of that. I don't mean to be cruel here just raising the point. Yes, you pop off the dust cover or bearing buddy and you are looking at the cotter key, nut and washer that holds the hub/drum assembly on the spindle. Pull it off. You are now looking at the brake shoes and backing plate on the trailer, and the brake drum on the hub. Do what you need to do from there.
