I feel like this is outboard repair related, but if it needs to be moved.....

How the heck can you keep your shop reasonably clean when working on multiple projects????

I have a 25x30 shop in my back yard that I built myself. I may just be a dirty person, but I just CANNOT seem to keep it clean. Especially since I am always working on several things at once. Lately it's replacing laminate flooring in the house that was flooded by a $4 undersink hose, repairing boat trailer axles, welding damaged aluminum boats, mounting trolling motors, and on and on. Do you guys only work on motors in your shop now that you're "retired"?
I'm just curious if you guys have a few tricks. My shop has stayed filthy for months now, and I do at least try to keep it reasonably clean. TOday I'm going to skip working on my old '56 lower unit, my dad's yamaha 25, and my neighbors johnson 25 just because my shop is so filthy I can't work in it. There's got to be a way.....
I'd post a dirty shop pic, but it'd be just too embarassing.......

Well, I am blessed with a larger shop, 24" x 40'. That means more space for "stuff", and litter to pile up. It contains a wood-working shop, a machine shop, a boat, several motors, and other stuff.

Metal chips and turnings, I take to the recyclers. Sawdust and wood chips, I scoop up and put in the trash. As for the rest, I have two overhead garage doors, and a leaf blower. Work benches? I don't know, haven't seen the tops of those for a few years.

I find the best way to keep my space clean is by inviting other members over to work on projects. Im so embarassed by the clutter I tidy up before they come. I too stopped myself one day, and went to the dollar store, bought a bunch of plastic bins/containers, labelled them all for gearcase parts, carb parts, ignition parts, etc.... so as to keep the workspace organized. I also have the benefit of having a spare bedroom in my house dedicated to parts motors. That helps :)

I am still laughing. My shop is my deer skinning rack, I started working on a boat motor one day and realized I could lift the motor with my skinning rack wench..I will post a pic if some one else has the balls to go first.
