When is gas too old?

I have two tanks on my Ranger. Both tanks were filled the middle of June. We used one tank as a reserve when the the primary tank ran dry. The reserve tank is about 1/2 full. Should I drain the reserve tank or just add gas with seafoam?

Its fine.
The gas in the tank at the gas staion is older than that.

It has always been my understanding that Car fuel varnishes after 30 days. A additive does help a lot. I like staybil or sea-foam for marine use.

Modern gas breaks down quickly and ethanol mixed fuel even faster. Temperature has a lot to do with it as well. In the cool ground the fuel will last longer than in a hot gas tank. Truth be told, in my quads I run the ethanol "enhanced" fuel and leave them to sit for a month between uses sometimes in the summer with no issues. I just do stabil before I let them sit for the winter. But 2-strokes are more picky so I throw stabil in there just so if something does happen I can't blame it on bad fuel.
