When is it time to repair prop?

I have a Chaparral 1830 SSI with a 4.3l V6 I/O, Alpha one unit. The prop is a 3-blade stainless design. I have some nicks in the blades from shallow water and typical bone head manuevers. No tears, no cracks, no major chunks missing.... i'm wondering when it is time to have the prop repaired. It does not seem to affect the boat performance, but maybe it is.

Unless you notice some really adverse effects, then it is not time.

Also, if and when you get to that stage, consider the cost of a new prop versus a repair/refub.

If they bother you, get a hand file and smooth them out removing as little material as possible, or on a SS just a few taps with a hammer to move them back into position. No biggie. Problems occur when you whack off 1/4 of a blade, bend a blade, or upset the center of gravity and cause an out of round condition and all that, at which time you WILL know that you need to give your prop attention.

+2. That's what's nice about stainless props... You need a file instead of a prop repair.
