1969 Evinrude 85hp mod. #85993m

I have my contacts in and everything but I can not find an adode on my motor. I even have an original parts manual but don't see one in the exhaust cover or gearcase groups. I'm sure I'm just having a senior moment (turned 35 this winter) but I can't seem to find the damn thing. Could someone please give me a part # and tell me where it bolts on? I'd like to check and see if one on ebay will fit. My uncles anode on his 85 johnson 90hp is right there in plain view. Thanks for any help with this stupid question.

Not a stupid question and you dont need an eyeball doctor. Theres a good reason you cant see it. We didnt have corrosion back then so it wasnt needed.

Or was it the bean counters hadn't thought to add one and charge more money for the motor? I cant remember which....

Re: Where be the anode?

Thanks Dhadley. Should/could I bolt/screw one on? Any suggestion as to what might sorta fit? Guess I'll cancel my eye doc appt. :) I wish things were like the old days when things never corroded.

Yes you can add one. OMC did /BRP does make a small one the you can attach with a couple of screws to the underside of the AV plate. Small, effective and it'll be right there where its easy to get to.

Several companies make the "add on" type. I bet they sell them right here at iboats.
