where can i find a prop for a 49 merc

I can't find a prop for my 49 merc anywhere. It's a KF-5, 5hp, s/n 355404. It is a Kiefhaefer, whatever that is? Any other information would be helpful as well.

Well I tried grubbs and old mercs and neither of them listed a specific prop. Is there a generic one size fits all?

You are trying to find a prop for what is essentially an antique engine. That's not going to be easy with ordinary prop shops, and there's no generic size to be had.<br /><br />Why don't you contact the Grubbs / Old Mercs folks and ask for their kind help? They would know the correct spec's, where you could get a used prop, or where to have one made. Or, perhaps your current prop may be fixed as well.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but when it comes to antique Mercs my knowlege ranges from diddly to squat.<br /><br />I betcha Chinewalker would know the place to find those. Me, I would try ebay (I see a '53 5hp prop going for $6, but I don't know if it fits yours), or place a want ad in the Webvertize section of aomci.org
