I purchased a 1977 Century Raven 200 with a OMC 190hp ford 302 and a OMC 175hp outdrive. the part number on the outdrive is 981059 and SN# is W127305. not sure about the engine and where to find this info. what has me baffled is everytime i try to look up this sterndrive all the numbers start with "99xxxx". i'm assuming that the stern drive is not the original since the motor is 190hp and the outdrive is 175hp. is this a OMC 400 or 800?
I have a manual on it's way....
I would like to put new wires, plugs, rotor and cap, fuel and oil filter, and oil in it before running it out on the water.
is there someplace i can go to find out all the information about this boat from when it was new? like which prop i should be using? now i can only get a 14 x 14 or a 14x16... but which one? i was told that based on the age of the boat... not the outdrive and shouldn't it be matched to the outdrive? see my problem?
anyone know where i can find a description of the part numbers and this phantom "98" number?
thanks!

For questions on your engine and outdrive, you are in the right forum.

For questions about which prop you should use, use our Prop Forum

For general questions about your boat other than the engine or prop, try using the Boat Topics & Questions (not engines) forum.

This is a pretty useful page:

http://shop2.evinrude.com/Index.aspx?s1=117d7f3b560d42973f04167d0113dd3f&catalog_id=0&siteid=1

You can select 'Stern Drive' from the drop-down & then pick your year & drive from the available selections. There are blow-up diagrams of all the engine & drive parts along with part numbers for various bits that you can cross-reference through Google to Sierra, Mallory or GLM.

There's a couple manuals you can download from the Adults Only section at the top of this forum as well (look in the 'OMC Information' section).

The Sterndrive 400 is only for the 4 cylinder engines. The 800 was for everything else, so you have an 800. Though I believe the earlier models were designated by the engine HP. Pre-1978 were electric shift, I think. 1978-1982 were hydro-mechanical & 1983-1986 were full mechanical shift (and apparently the best of the breed from what I hear).

Re: where can i find information on my old boat?

ok... wen't there and checked it out... it will be helpful...
when i put in the sterndrive, and select the year, and select the HP... it gives me four choices....
any suggestions on how i tell which one of the four? i looked and looked over the engine last night and can not find a "plate" or anything that list the engine model or any info. did find what appears to be a serial number? only i can't read the last two digits...
at this point i'm thinking that the plug wires, plugs, cap and rotor and condenser are probably the same between the models?
what could have changed between models? obviously something did for them to have 4 different options...
