I don't see numbers anywhere on my engine? I just bought it and the guy said he thought it was a late 60's 3hp. But there is no model or sreial number that I can find. Please help ! ! ! !
Re: Where can i find model # on my old johnson 3hp?
They should be on the namplate, which is on the side of the transom clamp. If the namplate is missing, you should be able to find it on the welsh plug on the side of the engine itself, nearby the head. The welsh plug is a quarter sized silver disc similair to a freeze plug with numbers stamped in it.
If it's a 3hp it should start with something like JW-xx or JH-xx.
Good luck!
