Where can I obtain the current info on my motor?

I had posted an earlier question on Spark Plugs because I was having a problem after I gaped them according to the manual. Come to find out OMC had changed the gap from .030 to .040 thanks for the info. I have a 1995 48hp evinrude . I just was looking and remember when I went to purchase the plugs at the local store they said the plug changed to QL78CY from what the manual had listed as QL78C. I guess the new plug runs hotter, but when was this change made? Is there some place I can find out current info or changes for the motor I have. I'm just trying to get in tune with my equipment. Thanks to all

Chumbucket<br />Tried to email you at the address you gave but it kept coming back undeliverable. Are you using the the new plug QL78CY? When abouts did that change. Any other changes I should be aware of? Is there a site somewhere or a phone number where you can find answers. just curious.

OMC and Champion updated the plug recommendations in mid 1995. The gap on the QL78YC plugs is .030". It's been that gap for years, but there were a few years of misprinted manuals.

OMC/BOMB HAS ALWAYS SAID(OR ATLEAST AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER) TO BE SURE YOU GET ACCURATE AND UP TO DATE SPARK PLUG INFORMATION ,YOU SHOULD ONLY GO BY A CURRENT YEAR PARTS AND ACCESORIES MANUAL.ANY LOACAL DEALER SHOULD BE ABLE TO ORDER YOU ONE ,BUT I DO NOT KNOW THAT I WOULD BUY ONE UNLESS I WAS GOING TO REPLACE IT EACH YEAR TO BE SURE THAT THE INFO I GOT FROM IT WAS UP TO DATE.
